BISMARK OPOKU (OPK) DECLARES INTENT TO CONTEST FOR UEW-SRC PRESIDENT

Bismark Opoku, popularly known as OPK, is a Level 200 HPERS student at the University of Education, Winneba. He has announced his candidacy for the position of SRC President for the academic year 2023/2024.

This declaration comes after the Electoral Commission of the SRC lifted the initial ban on campus politics, providing an opportunity for students to participate in the electoral process. The vibrant announcement took place online through the release of videos and pictures on Sunday, 23rd July, 2023.

In his statement, OPK emphasized that his decision to run for SRC President is not solely driven by the timing of the elections but by his belief that the SRC requires proactive and collective leadership. He aims to build upon the foundation laid by previous administrations and achieve even greater accomplishments, which align with his values.

According to OPK, the 28-year-old SRC demands not just any President but someone who can instill hope, connect with the realities faced by the average UEW student, and understand the challenges that students encounter daily.

He assured the students that he would continuously provide reasons for them to maintain their hope and rally their support for his leadership in the coming academic year. Although he acknowledges that the journey ahead may be challenging, he expressed confidence that with the support of God and his fellow UEW students, he will emerge victorious.

He said “Good day fellow students, I'm Bismark Opoku affectionately called OPK. A level 200 student of the university of education Winneba. Having consulted various stakeholders and the ordinary students to hear their major problems and how best they think they can be solved, I wish to plead to the entire students populace to help me lead the students' front as the next SRC PRESIDENT for 2024 academic year to laise with management and other stakeholders to help solve these issues. Remember, being an SRC PRESIDENT shouldn't just be a title but a call to duty and service to humanity. Long live SRC, Long live UEW, Long Ghana, Thank you.”
